Overview of Publishing Workflow Options
Kalibrate has three publishing workflow options.

  • Single Step Process
  • Two Step Process
  • Three Step Process

Single step configuration is for site managers who do not need to restrict publishing rights to users. If this option is selected in the configuration section it will override any role settings. The two step process offers configuration options to restrict publishing access.  The three step process can be setup to allow for an approval before publishing workflow.

Overview Role Base Access
Kalibrate uses a User to Group as Role scheme. Each user added to the system must be assigned to a group as a role before they are allowed access. Groups allow segregation in the site so there can be access restrictions at the module level. Roles are used to determine what actions a user is allowed within the group assigned. For instance you may want a designer to have access to the Assets only and then restrict them from deleting any of the assets. To accomplish this, a group must be created that is allowed access to the Assets module only, and then assign the user to the group with a role that disallows delete action.

Each role added can be configured to allow or disallow seven different actions. In some circumstances the actions do not apply to the context of the task. For instance allowing publishing on the role assigned to the designer in the group that has access to Assets only will not matter as there is no publishing workflow for assets.
